Why do we like shiny things?

It is a scientific theory that in nature, the one very shiny thing is water, and for any animal, the ability to find fresh water means survival, so we are drawn to shiny things from way way back. For a long time I have been intrigued by this thought and for the past year and I have focused almost entirely on it in my work. Most of the paintings are about water and reflections, and some incorporate gold leaf as an element of actual reflective light, something not possible with flat paint. Some paintings are large, others very small...but they're all about shining.

Please join me and my family on November 11th : ) Beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres.
